We recently onboarded an ecommerce brand based in the UK that sells sports equipment.
They reached out to us enquiring about boosting traffic to a couple of their highest-performing pages from an ROI point of view. These were mostly ecommerce collection pages that had previously ranked well, but were losing traffic.
This client had lost traffic previously around March 2024 and was looking to boost their sales before Christmas.
What We Did
This project revolved mostly around building supporting content for the priority collection pages, and then building backlinks to those pages.
Content
Content is very underrated for ecommerce brands.
On almost every SERP relating to a product or category, the chances are you'll stumble across several websites that have little to no blog content.
This shows just how easy it is to rank for ecommerce terms currently, but also how much money is left on the table due to poor practices.
For this client, we built out between 5-10 pieces of content per month:
- We used keyword research and competitor analysis to craft a list of keywords to support the main product & collection pages.
- We wrote the content, including internal links to priority pages (and other new blog posts), to create a funnel around the priority keywords.
All our content is human-written by experts on the subject, and fact-checked/edited after the initial copy.
Once the initial batch of content was published, we moved on to building links.
Link Building
The next step of the strategy was to build backlinks to the newly published blog content.
This has several benefits:
- Supports priority pages via internal linking. This passes link equity from the informational content to the priority pages via internal linking.
- Signals to Google that the site is publishing new and informative content, and content that is receiving links quickly.
The focus here was high-quality guest posts and link insertions, with non-exact match anchor tect.
Keyword Optimization Of Collection Pages
The last key part of the strategy was to optimize collection pages for the right type of keywords.
We did this by using Google Search Console data to see which search terms had the most volume. From there, we optimized the meta description, title, and H1 of the collection pages for the highest volume term.
We also added on-page content to the collection pages as well to rank for long-tail keywords.
The Results
The results for this project were great.

In just three months, we increased monthly revenue by 50% (£10,000) and increased monthly traffic by 25%.
